Strat Draft

Let's turn our attention to customizing the system to the specific needs of your league. The best place to begin is customizing the options your league will need. Under Administrative Tools and under League Setup click on the menu item League Profile.

Strat Draft has been designed to meet the needs of nearly any league. Some of the options that you are presented with include:

  • Enable E-mail: Most leagues will want this as it allows the system to send an e-mail to the owners of the league after a draft pick has been made detailing which team drafted which player. Each owner in the league ultimately controls whether or not they want e-mails sent to them. Individual owners set this option in their profiles which we will look at later.

  • Salary Structure: If your league is based on team budgets and player salaries, the system will keep track of all the details for you! As a team drafts players their remaining budget is calculated and can be easily viewed in the My Draft or My Competition pages. If drafting a player will exceed to the team budget, the system will prevent a draft pick from be made.

  • If your league wishes to keep the draft moving by using time limits, the system provides a rich set of options for you. You can customize the draft by specifying what time drafting must begin and end for the day. Within that you can customize how long each pick has before a time violation occurs and the pick is skipped. You even have an option that allows owners skipped because of a time violation to log in at any time and make a catch-up draft pick(s).

  • Minors: Many leagues allow drafting of minor leaguers. The system allows you to enter the name of anyone when this option is activated.

  • Free Agents: It is possible to designate players already on the rosters of teams in your league as free agents. This allows other teams to draft those players. Restrictions can be set specifying how many free agents any one team may lose and even how many any one team may draft. As teams lose free agents another option allows you to pull back players from the free agent market.

  • Three groups (A,B,and C) allow you to assign players to groups for the purpose of restricting how many players within these groups may be drafted or owned at any one time.

The next task is to select which players will be available in your draft. Begin by pressing the "Standard Players" menu item as shown to the left.  You will be taken to the SOM Standard Player Status screen which shows you several options for displaying players.  Choose Boston (BOA) and click the Go button as shown at the right.  You will be taken to a page similar to the one shown on the next page of this help.
